WHEN SAAS MEET RETAIL

Our platform is almost ready!

We know from talking with hundreds of amazon sellers and vendors: You are looking for a done for you service. You have no time to find buyers, search which retail stores fit your products and then figure out how to contact relevant buyers. All you want is to grow your business, and apply with your products to the biggest market share: the chain stores.

So besides doing exactly that, for almost 2 years we have been connecting tens of processes we daily use, using technology to create a marketplace where you can easily join, use it , and start talking with buyers directly – about your own brand.

Surprisingly the hardest part is to make the dashboard friendly and easy to use enough so we can actually launch it. Since we work in quite a big scale with buyers for years already, the technical part behind the dashboard was not easy but it was not THE biggest thing to achieve.. just hard work but as we all know: hard work pays off.

Oh, and here’s a screenshot of daily meeting with my team working on the SAAS platform.

Samples 📑

Buyers tend to ask for samples very easily. For them, every brand that looks relevant is an opportunity, but they sometimes look into the pricing and details only AFTER getting the samples.

The key to void unnecessary samples is just by good communications. Ask the buyers what they think, try to show them in your question that you know what they sell in their stores, and know how your products can elevate their shelves.

You will be surprised how easy it is to create a professional communication with them, they love chatting about products and attributes.

With such conversation you can determine if there is a real opportunity or if they asked for samples without even checking if it is a good fit for them.

🚨NO-QUESTION-ASKED RETURN POLICIES🚨

THIS IS THE POLICY WE ALL KNOW FROM AMAZON AND GENERAL ONLINE CHANNELS.

But is this also the case with brick and mortar stores?

Hard to answer this with a yes/no answer, because every retailer has its own policy. But yes, it is very common that chain stores will accept returns without any questions. I assume it is now an industry policy.

For us, the vendors, it means that we should take returns into calculation when we quote the wholesale prices to the buyers. But it also means we need to be aware that some retailers might have this issue build in as a factor in the price they require.

More about returns – in our next newsletter. Stay tuned.

⏩FORWARDING⏩

In many cases we might not have the exact contact we are looking for at a specific retail chain store. In that case, we can always apply to parallel category buyer.

In most of the cases, buyers are helping and referring their team mates to us, so we can open a conversation about our brand. This screen shot is taken from a response we got from very senior person in Costco. Her title is “GMM”, which means General Merchandise Manager, in simple words, she is the manager of all her category buyers, but she is still helping us, taking a moment to CC the right person.

Never give up when you have a target!
